Katschberg alpine XC trail
Enjoy the fresh, healthy air and beautiful nature – high altitude trails
have a special appeal in general, and here in St. Margarethen, we are home to
the Katschberg alpine trail, a 9 km-long,
intermediate to challenging route. This trail through the
forest is protected from the prevailing winds, and serves you up views from the
Hohe Tauern to the Nockberge mountains. The first two km or so of the trail are
very simple with only a few hills, making it suitable for everyone. The remaining kms,
however, are more for experienced skiers, featuring significant climbs, steep gradients, and also a few ski runs. However, the trail
also leads past numerous huts in the Aineck ski area.
The St. Margarethen leg
On this leg, you will take the chair lift to the Aineckstubn
summit station, then ski 4 km through sunny terrain in the direction of the Meisnitzeralm.
Experienced cross-country skiers have the opportunity to ski from here to the Kößlbacheralm and
then continue to the Katschberghöhe.
XC Trail Seal of Quality
The Lungau region has been awarded the XC Trail Seal of Quality.
