Local Info - St. Margarethen

St Margarethen lies at 1,065 m above sea level. At the foot of Aineck mountain.

Flowing through town is the Leisnitzbach, a wildwater stream which created the talus upon which the town was born.

The community also includes the smaller hamlets of Pichlern, Staig, Triegen, Unterbayrdorf and Oberbayrdorf.

On the edge of town heading in the direction of Thomatal, the community was successful in reserving the "Magatsch" as building land for young families. There, as well as on the site of the former "Kroma-Säge" sawmill. single-family homes, terraced houses and also small apartment houses were constructed.

Room for many young families. One of the reasons why St. Margarethen is one of the "youngest" communities in the Lungau.
